IFAK stands for Individual First Aid Kit . It is a compact medical kit designed for use in the field in case of serious injury, particularly in military or tactical environments. It contains the essentials for stabilizing an injured person until emergency services arrive.
What does an IFAK kit contain?
A well-equipped IFAK kit typically contains:
- A tourniquet (CAT, SOFTT-W)
- Compression bandages (Israeli or similar)
- Nitrile gloves
- A pair of medical scissors
- A hemostatic dressing
- A nasopharyngeal cannula
- A survival blanket
- A marker and a triangular bandage
